Buying a livestock supplement should start with clear product information. Whether you keep cattle, buffalo, goats or sheep, this checklist helps you organise an enquiry, compare the details supplied by a seller and avoid ordering on the strength of a product name alone.
1. Identify the animal and the purpose of your enquiry
Write down the species, approximate age group and the reason you are considering a product. Share the animals’ existing feed and any supplements already in use with the professional advising you. A product listed in a broad category is a starting point for browsing; the actual label is what you should check for intended use.
If an animal is unwell, a buying enquiry is not a diagnosis. Ask your veterinarian to assess the situation and advise whether a product is appropriate. Do not infer treatment directions from a website category or a marketing headline.
2. Ask for the complete label
Request a clear image of the current pack, including the front and directions panel. Look for the exact product name, intended species, ingredients or composition, net quantity, manufacturer details, batch identification and date information. If any detail is unclear, ask the seller before placing the order.
Read the directions, storage instructions and any precautions printed on that pack. Avoid transferring directions from a similar-looking product. Keep the label available for the veterinarian or qualified animal nutrition professional helping you.
3. Compare like-for-like quotations
A price is easier to assess when it refers to an exact pack size and quantity. Ask whether the quotation includes delivery and any applicable taxes, and request the total payable amount. Compare products by their stated composition, pack quantity and intended use rather than assuming that a lower pack price means a better fit.
4. Confirm availability and delivery
Share your delivery PIN code. Confirm stock, dispatch timing, expected delivery timing, delivery charges and what happens if a pack arrives damaged. A catalogue listing does not by itself confirm that an item can be shipped immediately to every location.
5. Keep a written order record
Before making a payment, keep the confirmed product names, quantities, total, delivery address and agreed terms in one message. Ask for an invoice and retain the seller’s confirmation. Check the delivered packs against that record and contact the seller promptly about any mismatch.
