Planning a Bulk Livestock Product Order: A Checklist for Dealers and Farms

Plan a bulk enquiry with exact product quantities, pack details, delivery requirements, invoice information and written commercial terms.

Bulk purchases work best when the buyer and seller agree on the same specification. Whether you are a dealer enquiring for your outlet or a farm buying for its own use, prepare a simple order sheet before requesting prices.

List each item separately

Write the exact product name, pack size and number of packs for every line. Keep alternative products on separate lines so the seller does not treat them as confirmed substitutions. If you are still choosing a product, request its complete label before finalising quantities.

For farm use, review the purchase plan with the professional advising you on animal nutrition. Ordering a larger quantity does not by itself establish that the product is suitable or needed.

Describe the delivery requirements

Share your business or farm location, PIN code and whether the delivery address has any receiving restrictions. Ask the seller to confirm coverage, transport charges, estimated dispatch timing and the expected delivery window. Do not promise a delivery date to your own customers until you have a written confirmation from the supplier.

Ask for a complete quotation

A clear quotation lists each item, quantity, quoted price and total. Ask how applicable taxes and delivery charges are treated and how long the quotation remains valid. Confirm whether a minimum quantity applies. Discounts, credit terms or exclusivity should be discussed explicitly; they are not implied by submitting a dealer enquiry.

Discuss pack and batch details

For a larger purchase, request the batch and date details of the stock offered. Consider how quickly you expect to use or sell the packs and the storage directions printed on them. Ask the supplier before payment if you need a particular remaining usable period or an original outer carton.

Confirm the commercial terms in writing

Ask about payment instructions, invoice details, damaged-delivery handling and the applicable return process. Keep the accepted quotation and seller’s confirmation together. If anything changes after the quote, request an updated total before making a payment.

Check the consignment on arrival

Compare the received products and pack counts with your invoice. Retain the pack labels and batch details. Report visible damage or a mismatch to the seller promptly, following the process agreed for your order.
